Rwanda Led All Nations in Business ‘Reforms,' World Bank Says
"Rwanda…made more business-friendly changes to its regulations in the past year than any other government, a World Bank [International Finance Corporation (IFC)] report showed. The sub-Saharan country vaulted to the 67th from the 143rd rank in the Bank's Doing Business 2010: Reforming through Difficult Times, ahead of India, Italy and Turkey. The index ranks 183 participants by their rules for setting up, running and closing a business….” [Bloomberg]

Reuters adds that "… ‘Rwanda has been consistently reforming year in and year out since 2001,' said World Bank Private-Sector Development Advisor Neil Gregory. IFC said Rwanda completed 7 out of 10 regulatory reforms by which Doing Business ranks countries. The changes in Rwanda protect investors, and make it easier to start a business, register property and access credit….” [Reuters/Factiva]
