African nations must unite against illegal fishing

As the continent arguably most affected by the problem of ‘stolen fish’, Africa could secure food for its people while providing the blueprint for victory, according to the findings of a Blue Paper commissioned by the High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy and launched this February at the African Union meeting.

Africa is forging a plan to benefit from its seas, secure food for its people and in turn help address a major global problem.

Nigeria's emir of Kano dethroned for 'disrespect'

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, one of Nigeria's most influential Muslim leaders, has been removed from office.

He was deposed after acting in "total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the state governor," the Kano state government said.

Mr Sanusi, a former governor of Nigeria's central bank, has had frosty relations with the Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, since 2017.

He has not commented on his removal.

NIGER : L’armée ébranlée par un scandale de détournements sur les commandes d’armements

Un audit au ministère nigérien de la Défense jette un pavé dans la mare et met l’armée dans une zone de turbulences. Cet audit a révélé déjà des cas de soupçons de surfacturation et de non-livraison de matériel militaire. La révélation a secoué l’armée nigérienne et selon les autorités, l’affaire pourrait se terminer devant les tribunaux parce que le dossier est déjà ficelé. Et il semble être déjà sur le bureau du président de la République et le Parquet.
