Where are the missing Commonwealth Games athletes?

It has been just over a month since several athletes at the Commonwealth Games in Australia disappeared.

The first to be reported missing were eight teammates from the Cameroon delegation. However the estimated number is now between 20 and 100.

They include athletes, coaches and team officials from several African countries.

Since their entry visas expired on Tuesday, Australia has threatened to deport those overstaying illegally.

Burundi referendum could keep president in power until 2034

A controversial referendum in Burundi on Thursday could see President Pierre Nkurunziza retain power for another 16 years. The vote is the latest chapter in a crisis that has left more than 1,000 dead and caused hundreds of thousands to flee.

With opponents cowed, beaten, killed or now living in exile, there seems little doubt the constitutional amendments at issue will pass, enabling the 54-year-old, who took power in 2005, to remain in charge until 2034.

Niger sends Sudanese refugees back to Libya

Niger has deported at least 132 Sudanese refugees and asylum seekers back to Libya, drawing criticism that it is flouting international law by sending them back to dangerous and inhumane conditions from which they recently escaped.
