Der Senkrechtstarter unter den Jungunternehmern des Kontinents eröffnet die ersten Smartphone-Fabriken in Südafrika und Ruanda

clb. KAPSTADT, 16. Oktober. Auf der Rückseite dieses Smartphones prangt kein Apfel, sondern ein silberner Löwenkopf. Das Telefon heißt Mara, ist leicht, dünn und – glaubt man dem Hersteller – hochmodern. Doch die technischen Finessen sind in diesem Fall nicht das Besondere. Das Mara-Phone ist nach Unternehmensangaben das erste Handy „made in Africa“.

WASHINGTON, October 17, 2019- Across Africa, where less than a third of the population has access to broadband connectivity, achieving universal, affordable, and good quality internet access by 2030 will require an investment of US $100 billion. This is according to a report launched at the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group, which calls for urgent action to close the internet access gap while providing a roadmap to reach this ambitious goal.

The launch of a smartphone manufacturing plant in Rwanda by Mara Phones is a significant milestone in Rwanda’s journey in the production of technology gadgets.

This, according to President Paul Kagame, is part of the broader Made in Rwanda initiative, on which the country has embarked on.

Kagame was speaking on Monday at the launch of the Mara Phones production plant at the Kigali Special Economic Zone in Gasabo District.
