South Africa, which holds the rotating presidency of the Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) group, wants to advance the continent’s interests.
Despite a knock at the door, no one seems to be home. The BRICS group says they are pleased to receive the applications of around 20 countries who wish to join this club of emerging economies, but the lucky ones have not yet been chosen.

Ghana patients in danger as nurses head for NHS in UK - medics

The recruitment of nurses by high-income countries from poorer nations is "out of control", according to the head of one of the world's biggest nursing groups.
The comments come as the BBC finds evidence of how Ghana's health system is struggling due to the "brain-drain".
Many specialist nurses have left the West African country for better paid jobs overseas.

GiveDirectly, a leading distributor of cash aid, has suspended all its active operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where at least $900,000 was allegedly stolen by staff or former workers in a large-scale fraud that penetrated every department of the country office.
